Dear Colleague,
Welcome to the website of the British Chamber of Commerce in Mexico!
As the new President of the Chamber it is a pleasure to welcome you to this website, which provides a wealth of information on the Chamber, its activities and its news.
The Chamber is the leading, independent organisation dedicated to promoting trade and investment between Mexico and the UK as well as detecting and supporting the development of bilateral business opportunities for and amongst its members. The Chamber is not a political organisation, however, when required, we do form a common front with our members and Business Sector groups and liaise with top level authorities to represent and protect their interests.
Established in 1921, the British Chamber in Mexico is celebrating its 90th Anniversary. This landmark in the Chamber’s history is a new incentive to continue our growth and enhance the services offered to our membership. Today the best measure of our success is that Chamber membership continues to grow and today the Chamber boasts over 320 members equating to 5,000 active participants. We are the largest British Chamber in Latin America.
In spite of the Chamber’s success we must never become complacent, so we are constantly creating greater added value for Chamber members. Over the upcoming months you can expect to see new Business Sector Groups being formed; professional, independent information will be available on bilateral trade, specific sectors of the economy, as well as markets and business activities and opportunities between Mexico and the UK; in addition a stronger flow of business activity between Chamber members will be promoted through the introduction of initiatives like the Corporate Mentoring Program, amongst others.
We will continue to encourage proactive participation of all our members, our most important resource, to succeed in our single most important objective; Increasing trade and Investment between Mexico and the UK.
The Chamber's activities, growth and developments will be detailed on the Chamber's website, so I strongly recommend that you watch this space carefully over the coming months.
The Chamber is inclusive, whether you are based in Mexico or overseas or of any other nationality, if you are not yet a member, we cordially invite you to join the Chamber. We pride ourselves on the high added value all of our members receive and welcome you to join the Chamber Community. Further details can be found within this site.
Thank you and welcome again.

President
As the Honorary President of the British Chamber of Commerce in Mexico it is a pleasure to welcome you to this website. The relationship between my UK Trade & Investment Team and the Chamber is fundamental to the services we both offer: to UK businesses looking to come to Mexico, to those now exploring and seeking to establish businesses here and to Mexican partners expanding their operations to the UK.
Our relationship is of long standing. Through our participation on the Chamber's Executive Board and its Sector groups, we aim to pool efforts to give customers a wide range of information, services, advice and contacts. Within my Embassy's broader political, economic, education and cultural objectives, we aim together to strengthen the UK's trading footprint in Mexico, increase Mexican investment to the UK and work for a better regulated and business friendly environment.
Achieving a more powerful UK/Mexico commercial partnership is one of my most important objectives here. Mexico is a priority market for the UK and we are conscious of its growth and range. We are a major FDI player and my UKTI team work across the sectors and in four locations in Mexico. We have a strong historical legacy and a growing political and economic relationship. Yet our trading level remains below its potential. We could do more to make the UK brand: its quality, creativity and innovation more widely felt and appreciated. Your involvement will count.
As I write we and the Chamber are therefore working with other UK interest groups, including the British Council and Visit Britain to promote the concept of "Think Britain". Through this we are seeking to raise the UK profile, extend our reach and dispel some of the misconceptions surrounding the UKmarket. In parallel with Pro Mexico we are underlining the "Mexico Matters " profile in Britain. With the arrival of a new UK Government determined to ensure a strong global but distinctly British foreign policy, it is an excellent time to register these messages and raise our game.
